Lenses are securely intact and slide bar and retractable handle work as designed.
The second antique wood stereoscope is a Saturnscope. A finely crafted 19th-century view finder. The left lense is missing, and handwriting is on top of the slide. Slide bar and retractable handle work as designed. See pictures for details as they are part of the description. Measures 13x7"
PLUS 25 1800s Stereoview cards that depict a range of subjects, from portraits, Christ's life, comical scenes to landscapes.
The stereoscope (an optical instrument with two eyepieces), these two flat images combine to create the illusion of a single, three-dimensional image with depth and relief. Stereographs served as a major source of entertainment and education, allowing people to experience distant lands, significant events, and various scenes in a seemingly immersive way before the advent of modern 3D technology.
